Pregnancy can bring excitement and hope, but it can also bring uncertainty, anxiety, and unexpected emotions. You may find yourself worrying about the pregnancy or birth, adjusting to changes in your body and relationships, or wondering how life will change when you become a parent.
Counselling offers a space to slow down, process what you’re experiencing, and reconnect with yourself as you move through this significant transition.

Honouring Your Experience
Pregnancy can be a deeply personal experience, and there is no one “right” way to feel about becoming a parent.
You may feel excited and grateful while also feeling afraid, overwhelmed, uncertain, or even disconnected. You may be adjusting to changes in your body, your relationship, your identity, or the future you had imagined.
Whatever you are experiencing, your feelings deserve space.
Counselling can offer a place where you don’t have to have everything figured out. You can slow down, make sense of what is happening, and be supported through this transition at your own pace.
Understanding the Emotional Changes of Pregnancy
Pregnancy can bring changes that extend far beyond the physical. You may notice increased worry, sensitivity, self-doubt, mood changes, or concerns about the future.
Together, we can explore what may be underneath these feelings and how your thoughts, emotions, expectations, and past experiences are shaping the way you are experiencing pregnancy.
We can make space for both the joy and the difficult emotions, without judging yourself for having them.
Anxiety & Uncertainty
Worries about pregnancy, birth, your baby, or what life will look like after becoming a parent.
Identity & Relationships
Adjusting to changes in how you see yourself, your relationship, your family roles, and your sense of independence.
Expectations & Emotions
Making space for difficult or unexpected emotions, including guilt, fear, ambivalence, grief, or feeling that pregnancy is not unfolding as you imagined.
How I Support Your Journey
A Space to Slow Down and Be Heard
Pregnancy can be filled with appointments, decisions, preparation, and expectations. Counselling gives you a space that is simply for you—to pause, reflect, and talk openly about what you are experiencing.
Understanding Your Thoughts, Emotions & Patterns
We can gently explore worries, self-doubt, expectations, and emotional patterns that may become more noticeable during pregnancy. Together, we can develop a deeper understanding of yourself and what you need.
Preparing Emotionally for Parenthood
Becoming a parent can bring changes to your identity, relationships, priorities, and sense of self. We can explore these changes together and help you move toward parenthood with greater self-awareness, flexibility, and compassion.
Who This Is For
Pregnancy counselling may be helpful if you are navigating emotional changes, uncertainty, or challenges as you prepare for parenthood.
Pregnancy Anxiety & Worry
Feeling worried about your pregnancy, birth, your baby, or what lies ahead.
Adjusting to Pregnancy
Struggling with changes in your body, emotions, routines, relationships, or sense of identity.
Fear of Birth & the Unknown
Feeling anxious about childbirth, medical experiences, or the uncertainty of becoming a parent.
Mixed or Unexpected Emotions
Experiencing fear, sadness, guilt, ambivalence, or other emotions that feel difficult to talk about.
Relationship & Life Changes
Navigating changes in your relationship, family dynamics, work, independence, or expectations for the future.
Preparing for Parenthood
Wanting space to reflect on who you are becoming, what matters to you, and how you want to approach parenthood.
You don’t have to feel a certain way about pregnancy to deserve support. Counselling can begin wherever you are, with whatever you are experiencing right now.

A Space to Be Yourself
I’m Jessy Lok, a BC Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology and a background in Psychology.
I support individuals navigating pregnancy, life transitions, anxiety, and the emotional changes that can come with becoming a parent.
My approach is warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental. I believe counselling should be a space where you can speak honestly about what you’re experiencing without needing to have the “right” feelings or all the answers.
Whether you’re feeling excited, uncertain, overwhelmed, or somewhere in between, you are welcome here.
I offer counselling in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, with in-person counselling in Vancouver and online counselling across BC.
