Jessy Lok, Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)

Hi, I’m Jessy.
Registered Clinical Counsellor · RCC
I believe therapy is not only about feeling better. It’s also about understanding yourself more deeply — and learning to live with greater awareness, intention, and self-compassion.
If you’ve been moving through life on autopilot, constantly meeting expectations, taking care of others, or trying to hold everything together, counselling can be a space to pause, reconnect with yourself, and begin to understand what is really happening underneath.

My Story
My journey to counselling has been shaped not only by my academic and professional training, but also by my own experiences of navigating change, uncertainty, relationships, family, and the many roles we carry in life.
Sometimes we can be responsible, capable, and functioning well on the outside while feeling disconnected from ourselves underneath.
I came to understand how easy it can be to live according to expectations, responsibilities, or familiar patterns without stopping to ask: “What do I actually need?” or “How do I want to live?”
That understanding became an important part of why I chose counselling. Today, I feel grateful to offer others a space where they can slow down, be honest about what is happening, and meet themselves with greater understanding and compassion.
My Approach
I offer counselling that is warm, collaborative, and evidence-informed. Rather than simply focusing on symptoms, we can explore the patterns underneath — the ways you think, relate, respond to stress, and make sense of yourself and the world around you. Together, we can develop greater self-awareness, build practical skills, and create meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.
Understanding
Explore your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and recurring patterns with curiosity and compassion.
Awareness
Develop greater awareness of what is happening within you and how you respond to life’s challenges.
Change
Build practical skills and make intentional changes that align with the life you want to live.
Therapeutic Approaches
Your counselling experience will be tailored to your needs. I may draw from different approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Explore the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and develop more helpful ways of responding to difficult situations.
Mindfulness-Based Approaches
Cultivate present-moment awareness and learn to relate to thoughts, emotions, and experiences with greater clarity and less judgment.
Self-Compassion
Develop a kinder and more supportive relationship with yourself, especially when navigating self-criticism, perfectionism, or difficult emotions.
Trauma-Informed Practice
Create a therapeutic space grounded in safety, choice, empowerment, and respect for how past experiences may shape present-day patterns.
Person-Centred Therapy
Build a warm, genuine, and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship where you can explore yourself at your own pace.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Learn to make space for difficult thoughts and emotions while moving toward the values, relationships, and experiences that matter to you.

What I Believe
You deserve to be understood.
Therapy can be a space where you feel seen, heard, and respected without needing to perform or have all the right answers.
Change begins with awareness.
When we understand our thoughts, emotions, and patterns, we have more freedom to choose how we want to respond.
Self-compassion is not giving up.
Learning to treat yourself with kindness does not mean avoiding responsibility or change. It gives us a steadier foundation from which to grow.
You don’t have to do it alone.
A safe therapeutic relationship can give you space to slow down, reflect, and find your way forward.

Outside the Therapy Room
Outside the therapy room, I am a mother to two daughters, one of whom has complex medical needs. Much of my life is shaped by caregiving, presence, and learning through lived experience.
I also maintain a regular meditation practice, which continues to deepen my capacity for awareness and the way I listen and hold space for others.
Over time, this has also become part of an ongoing process of inner growth, a way of coming to understand experience with greater clarity, openness, and compassion.
